Eric's language is age appropriate. Due to his short palate, his speech is nasally, this will probably have to repaired. His tonsils are also enlarged, so after he sees an ENT doctor in a few weeks, those my be coming out, which will make his speech worse. I just hope this all works out soon. He talks almost non stop, can't understand a lot of it, but we get the gist of it. There have been times when he's gotten a topic at my parents and just went on and on for 20 minutes. It's hilarious! Last week he wanted a rocket ship, so he told us all about the rocket, helmet and space shoes he needed. It has to be a big rocket. At first he wanted a pink one, but last time it had to be blue.
He's done pretty well with Paul being gone. Occasionally, he'll get a little upset because he's not here, he misses him a lot. But, Eric is a trooper. When a plane flys over, it's daddy. We have to make a map (Ala Dora the Explorer) for when we pick daddy up at the airport. Monday he told me that daddy had to come home and take the trash can out to the curb before he goes to bed. This, after I told him what all I had to do before I went to bed as I was putting him to bed. He knows who takes the trash out.
After the family reunion in June, Eric found one of my dolls and was carrying it around. I bought him one for himself. So, he has his own "ba-gy," which has been taken all over the place. The first Sunday he had it, 'baby' went to church wrapped in a blanket. For some reason Eric wanted the blanket wrapped around him, so we put it around him like a skirt and he was happy. A few days later it dawned on me, I wrap the towel around me after a shower. He likes to imitate us. He'll genuflect when he enters church and he folds his hands when going to communion with me. Eric was flipping pages in a book during church, daddy's way... licking a finger to turn the page. Except that he licked one hand and turned with the page with the other.
Eric must have had a premonition. The two of us would go for walks, Eric on his tricycle and was told to push his baby in a stroller. I'm not sure what the neighbors thought. He was making sure I was ready for Joseph's arrival.

Eric was invited to a "Fun" party at a classmate's house.
We didn't know water was going to be involved, so we just took off his shirt,
although he thought he was supposed to take off all his clothes.
I do carry a change of clothes, so he didn't go home dripping wet.
