Eric's Third Birthday!

We had a low key birthday for Eric. After lunch we took him to a place where he could run around and play. It's pretty much a store that sells outdoor wooden play sets, that has some set up in a warehouse store. Here, parents can watch their kids play and check out the equipment, with hopes from the owners that they buy something. I don't remember what they charged, we had a coupon for free playtime. With all the slides, swings, ladders... what does Eric spend 80% of the time playing with? A Little Tykes red car. He dominated it! Wasn't too happy when he had to share, which was only a couple of times, but he did good.

Grandma and Grandpa, rode with us to meet Uncle David at Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. We brought his gifts, a balloon and the teddy bear cake I made him. He enjoyed his corn-on-the cob and Grandpa, Daddy and Uncle David taking him outside to see the Ohio River and boats. The wait staff sang happy birthday to him. Eric isn't big on cake, so he got a dish of ice cream loaded down with M&M's. He loved it!

Eric played with his new remote control car he got from Uncle Mike, Aunt Kate and Pip, outside. He drove it around the cul-de-sac and played with it in some of the driveways before we had to coax him inside for bed. A full day for the birthday boy!

Last year Holly and Hope were here for his birthday. Holly and I quietly went in just after midnight and sang Happy Birthday to Eric as he peacefully slept. I did it by myself this year. Here's my new 3 year old...

Driving the Little Tykes car

He liked this little roller coaster... especially backwards.

His cargo, a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball. He took it out after a while. When he wanted another basketball, he went hunting for THAT ball, which some other kid was playing with. Eventually, he got it back.

See, I got my basketball back!

Joe's Crab Shack for dinner
Enjoying his corn-on-the-cob and some fries

Taking in the beautiful view

Happy Birthday Eric!

About every half hour, the wait staff comes out to do a group dance, like 'YMCA' for example. Eric didn't dance but wanted to join in.
Happy Birthday from "Joe's"

Teddy Bear cake... before going to "Joe's"
Playing with his new car
He liked our neighbor's driveway

Ah, my baby is three, where has the time gone? Next thing he'll be doing is going off to preschool. Oh, wait, he's already doing that...
